Around the world, there are about 50 milion people that speak polish. It is about 46 milion people in Poland and the rest outside of Poland in countries like Canada, the USA, the UK, Germany and Italy.
Almost 99% people that live in Poland speaks polish and it is their mother tongue.

Polish include many words from other languages like : Russian,Czech,Slovakian,Latin,English,German,French,Italian.

    The polish alphabet has 32 letters. There is 9 vowels and 23 consonants.a, ą, b, c, ć, d, e, ę, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, ł, m, n, ń, o, ó, p, r, s, ś, t, u, w, x , y, z, ź, ż
Have a look at the special Polish characters now. There is 2 letters with small tail in the bottom (ą,ę), 5 with oblique lines (ć,ń,ó,ś,ź), 1 crossed out with obliqu line (ł) and 1 with a dot over it (ż).Yes, they look like a,e,c,n,o,s,z,l,z but you have to pronounce it different.I will do some mp3 later, then you will learn them.In Polish language we can normally use x, v and q in some borrowings form other languages. In words like fax, veto,cv Smile
Letters like ą,ę,ń cannot be used at the beggining of any word. The vowel y can be found at the beggining of only few borrowings (like yeti).

Remember! Polish words are generally spelt like you pronounce them,so you will be able to read Polish text easily as soon as you learn some rules of the Polish spelling and pronunciation.
